Brian Hones

Senior Partner

Brian Hones is the Senior Partner at HLH. Admitted as a solicitor in 1969 Brian has practiced in both the City and suburbs. He was a licensed Builder in 1985 and has built or renovated over 60 houses. Brian practices extensively in the area of Property, Local Government and Environmental law and regularly appears in the Land & Environment Court. He is also a member of the Environment and Planning Law Association NSW as well as the Planning Research Centre, University of Sydney. Brian believes that the greatest benefit he can offer clients is a personal commitment to resolving their problems in a friendly, practical way. He oversees all files personally and is accessible to take client calls.

Jason Hones

Partner

Jason is a Partner at HLH. He has worked in the legal industry since 1993 and was admitted to practice in 2002. Prior to law Jason worked in the building industry as a carpenter and project manager. Jason’s practical experience is backed by his specialized planning, environmental and local government experience and knowledge. He regularly appears in the Land & Environment Court and Court of Appeal on a diverse range of issues including Class 1 development appeals, valuation and compensation matters, land contamination, Class 4 civil proceedings and class 5 criminal prosecutions. He currently has a number of local Councils as his clients as well as a broad array of private developers. Jason has strengths in both negotiation and advocacy. He has an extensive knowledge of planning and environmental law, which, when coupled with his ability to think outside of the square ensures he achieves remarkable, and the best, results for his clients.

Jane Mercer

When buying or selling your properties you will no doubt be dealing with Jane Mercer under partner supervision. Jane has been working at HLH for nearly 20 years assisting clients with the complexities of conveyancing. Her know-how and her love of the industry will make your property transaction stress free and, yes, we’ll say it - enjoyable. She also assists Brian Hones with the preparation of Companies for Company Title transactions as well as assisting with the sale of these more complex properties.
